Antananarivo, September 23, 7:00 PM

From the ancient period to the republican period. Over 1,300 years of Madagascar’s economic history are traced through the immersive exhibition organized by FTHM Consulting, in partnership with the History Department of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Antananarivo. Starting this Tuesday, the successes, innovations, and decisive choices that have shaped the country’s trajectory, from the first commercial exchanges to contemporary issues, are highlighted.

« Each of these periods demonstrates Madagascar’s socio-economic evolution, which helps to explain the country’s current situation, » stated Alain Pierre Bernard of FTHM Consulting. « They allow us to see the real challenges our country faces and the policies that should be put in place to address them, ensuring that Madagascar truly achieves sustainable and inclusive development, » he explained.

It was emphasized that Madagascar’s economic history reveals a trajectory marked by modernization ambitions, successive integrations into global trade, and multiple experiments, particularly after independence. Despite considerable assets, such as natural resources, biodiversity, and human capital, Madagascar has not yet transformed this potential into sustainable and inclusive development.

Therefore, this exhibition aims to educate the current generation, as well as students, decision-makers, and entrepreneurs, about the socio-economic history of the Big Island. « It will help us learn from our past mistakes as well as our successes, » said Fidelis Randrianirina of FTHM Consulting.
