As a sideline to the 1,300 years of Madagascar’s economic history, an exhibition is taking place at the Cité des Cultures, located in Antaninarenina. The event begins today and will continue until September 30. This initiative is organized by FTHM Consulting, in collaboration with the History Department of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FLSH) at the University of Antananarivo. Other partners are also participating in the realization of this exhibition. According to Alain Pierre Bernard, representative of FTHM Consulting, the event traces the country’s economic and social development. « It covers the Middle Ages, the Royal era, the colonial period, and the current Republic. Thus, the public can follow the evolution of exchanges, social activities, and economic structures, » he explained. « The goal is to better understand the national history and to learn from the mistakes of the past. It is this reflection that justifies holding the exhibition, » he added.
Discussions Visitors discover precise economic and social indicators for each period. Explanatory panels, historical maps, and statistical data make the information clear and accessible. Thus, the past is easily linked to the country’s current development challenges. Furthermore, on June 3 and 4, several conferences were organized on this subject. They brought together researchers, teachers, and academics. They presented their work, followed by enriching debates that helped deepen the understanding of economic and social transformations. This exhibition is aimed at everyone: the general public, students, and young generations. It allows for an understanding of the path Madagascar has traveled and invites reflection on future prospects. For one week, the Cité des Cultures becomes a place of memory and transmission. The exhibition offers everyone the opportunity to learn, be inspired, and better understand the country’s future.
